Our sweet girl has been dreaming up her big 8th Birthday Rainbow Party for nearly the past year. Talking about all things rainbow that she wanted. A cake, rainbow on the inside, yet simple on the outside. A big rainbow balloon arch, not with the standard rainbow colors, but a more muted palette. And all the rainbow foods to snack on. I think in the end I managed to get in all of her thoughtful requests, plus added a few more dreamy little things to top it off.
I wanted to keep the party as simple as possible, but also have enough activities to keep the girls busy. So as the girls arrived they played a game of red rover. They then sat down and began making their darling Rainbow Felt Ball necklaces from Hello Maypole. After they were done they all loaded their plates with rainbow arranged fresh fruit & veggies and chatted and giggled as they ate. It was then time for a little fun scavenger hunt. We hid a rainbow of 10 different colored/flavored dum dum lollipops for each girl to find. The trick to keeping them busy long was that you had to find one of each color to complete your scavenger hunt!
After all the running around scavenging they were hungry again, so it was time for cake! I’m so grateful that I have reached an age and time in my life where I know it not only saves me time (and my sanity), but my families as well, to order a custom cake! Literally the best investment when it comes to birthday parties in my eyes! The girls gathered around for presents when they were done with their cake and there’s nothing cuter than little girls handmade cards and thoughtful gifts from their friends! We ended the party with a swim in our pool all at our sweet girls request and it couldn’t have been a more perfect little party for our Rainbow girl.
Read on to see how easy and quick it was to put this party together.
Easy DIY Rainbow Balloon Arch:
Literally what I am about to show you is going to blow your mind. It’s seriously so easy to make these balloon garland/arches that you’ll want to make them over and over for all of your life events.
What you need:
Balloon tape, an Electric balloon pump, and a variety of balloons.
I actually just used all high quality 11 in. sized balloons, but varied their sizes by how much air I pumped into each. You want to have different sizes of balloons to get the best look for your balloon garland.
I used 2 complete rolls of the balloon tape for this Rainbow arch in order to get it to be a bit of a thicker garland. You could certainly just use one, but it will only be about half as thick as mine was. I started by filling each end of each roll of tape with the same color of balloons and then just simply started twisting them together. Continuing on by adding more balloons in and twisting the two pieces of balloon tape along the way (see photos above). Honestly it couldn’t have been easier. I cannot stress enough how crucial the electric balloon pump is! We were able to make this garland and not be out of breath because of it and have it DONE in roughly an hour and a half. I believe I ended up using a total of around 150 balloons in all for this rainbow garland, it was a big one, but so fun and worth it!
Rainbow Birthday Party Sources:
We re-used the little low tables we made originally for Liliana’s 6th birthday found here. Covered them with some simple white linen table cloths. Added some pillows and a few Gathre mats for the girls to sit on. Adorned the table with a sweet garland from Hello Maypole as well as these easy DIY party hats. For the food table, I simply cut up a variety of veggies and fruits and arranged them in rainbow order. Added some fresh fruit to water and called it good! The cake and matching macarons were custom ordered from Mmm Dessert and were perfect. Oh, and the cups, plates, and napkins were a lucky find from here! And last but not least see above on how to make the Rainbow balloon arch. It’s waaaay easier than you might think!
We are so grateful for this sweet girl. She’s truly our little rainbow baby and every single one of us couldn’t imagine our family without her. She completed us and brings the utmost joy to us all around here daily!
